Some weddings follow a script. George and Kayla’s wasn’t one of them.
The details told you everything you needed to know about these two. George had Star Wars cufflinks and a watch that made it clear he wasn’t pretending to be anyone other than himself. Kayla’s vision was classic — white florals, elegant black bridesmaid dresses, her own gorgeous voluminous dress (with a fabulous bow) that made everything come together perfectly.
October at the Tate House is something special. Clear skies and that particular quality of fall light that makes everything feel a little more golden. We had beautiful windows of time outside with just the two of them, and Kayla was stunning — outside against the backdrop of the vast grounds and inside on the sweeping staircase.
And then the reception started.
Kayla made a quick change into an incredible black gown, and sang her heart out to start the party. It was electric and so uniquely them.
What I kept coming back to all day was how comfortable they were in their own choices. Nothing felt forced or trend-chased. It was just two people building a wedding day that actually reflected who they are.
Those are the weddings I love most.
